New For 2023, Arctic Rescue Coaster – SeaWorld San Diego

SeaWorld San Diego has recently announced a brand new coaster coming to their park in 2023. It’s name, Arctic Rescue. It will be a straddle-style ride similar to a similar coaster at SeaWorld San Antonio. Guests will board a snowmobile type ride vehicle and will cruise along a 2,800 foot long track. It’s expected that the ride will last almost two minutes. The ride will reach speeds of up to 40 miles per hour. The ride will be located in the Wild Arctic section of the park that once housed several motion simulators. It is expected to be more of a family ride than a high thrill ride for adults. The minimum height required to ride is 48 inches. The maximum height of the ride will be below 30 feet in height as local ordinance prohibits rides taller than that without approval.

The marketing arm of the park is touting this new coaster as the “longest and fastest Straddle Coaster on the West Coast.” You may ask how many straddle coasters are on the west coast, the answer is not many. From what I can tell, you have Pony Express at Knott’s Berry Farm and Railblazer at CGA.

“We’re continuously looking for ways to add new experiences to the park for our guests and this new coaster is a great addition to our ride line-up and a perfect complement to the Wild Arctic exhibit,” said Jim Lake, the president of SeaWorld San Diego’s park, at the announcement event.  “The ride is also an educational opportunity for guests to learn more about climate change, how it impacts animals in the Arctic and what they can do to help the issue. I truly feel that seeing these animals up-close at SeaWorld allows guests to build a stronger connection and encouragement to take action to help protect them.”

Want to be one of the first to hop on this new coaster? Passholders will get exclusive ride times to be one of the first groups of guests to experience Arctic Rescue when it opens in 2023.

The exit of the ride will be directly into the Wild Arctic exhibit. This is the area in the park where you can see walruses, belugas, ring seals, and more! It’s probably my favorite part of the park, as the theming is on point and looks amazing!

SeaWorld San Diego continues to add to their amazing line up of rides at the park. The other coasters at the park include Electric Eel, Manta, Emperor, Journey to Atlantis, and Tidal Twister.
