Kings Dominion has just announced that they are going to be holding a New Year’s Eve event at the park. If you’ve ever wanted to ring in the new year at a theme park, this is the perfect opportunity to do so! The park will be open from 5pm until 12:30am with rides at the park staying open until 10 p.m. The main countdown party will be underneath their Eiffel Tower with a DJ playing music.. The evening will conclude with an epic fireworks show planned to go off exactly at midnight!
If you havn’t done the Winterfest event at the park, this would be one of the last two operating days at the park for 2022. Winterfest is Kings Dominion’s holiday event that has the park decorated with millions of holiday lights strung up throughout the park. In addition to lights, there are nearly 1,000 Christmas trees spread throughout the park. The largest Christmas tree at the park however will be the Eiffel Tower that will be transformed into a huge 300-foot-tall Christmas Tree.
Ice-skating will be another activity guests can do at the park as the iconic International Street Fountains are turned into a huge ice-skating ring dubbed Snowflake Lake. In total, there will be more than 20 activities throughout the park. These include more than 20 rides, some live entertainment on stages, cookie decorating with Mrs. Claus, and even a Winterfest wonderland parade at 9pm. The parade will feature toy boxes, gingerbread houses, choo-choo trains and much more. One of the stage shows will feature Tinker’s Toy Factory, a show often found at Cedar Fair parks during winterfest.
Winterfest at any of the Cedar Fair parks is always a must do event in my opinion. There are just so many lights throughout the parks that you’ll be amazed. Even though it can be cold at the parks and not all the rides are open, bundling up with a hot drink next to a fire or under the lights is a solid way to spend an evening in the winter.
