If you’re in the process of planning a first time visit to Dollywood there a few tips you SHOULD keep in mind when head to the park!
Number 1: Plan You Footwear! – Dollywood is a huge park located in the Mountains and that means there is a lot of walking to be done and a lot of inclines! LOTS of inclines! Be sure to pack some shoes that you can comfortable walk in throughout the day to minimize fatigue.
If you’re traveling with someone who will need a wheelchair or mobility scooter you should be sure to stop by the ECV and Wheelchair rental just inside the park close near by the Emporium to rent your scooter for the day. These are typically first come first serve and can go fast! You can also book an ECV online prior to your visit at the line in the description below https://www.dollywood.com/themepark/guest-services/daily-rentals/
Number 2: ARRIVE EARLY! – Arriving early will allow you time to pay for parking. Yes, you have to pay to park which is currently $30.00 for standard parking and $45 for preferred parking.
Gold and Diamond passholders and Dollywood Resort guests receive FREE Standard Parking.
This will also allow plenty of time for you to navigate the parking lot that can be a bit confusing for first time guests and find that perfect spot!
Early arrival will also allow your family to get into the park quickly, grab a park map, and plan the route to the first attraction before the crowds arrive!
Number 3: DOWNLOAD THE APP – Dollywood offers a mobile app that while limited does allow you to view the park map, check out a list of show times, and pinpoint your exact location within the park!
The best part is you can also check out the attraction wait times while in the park to help you plan your next stop!
Number 4: Consider a TimeSaver Pass – Dollywood can be quite crowded at anytime throughout the year. Your best options are visiting in early spring or right after the kids return to school in the Fall. Any other time during the year typically sees high wait times for the most popular attractions.
TimeSave passes are a great option when you want to maximize your ride time but don’t want to stand in those long lines! You can also use the TimeSaver to reserve your seat at a show!
And speaking of shows…
Don’t Neglect the Shows! – Dollywood offers world class entertainment, and you would be doing yourself a disservice if you don’t make some times to checkout a show!
Entertainment varies depending on the season but you can always find something the entire family can enjoy. The great thing about Dollywood is they offer short 10-15 minute live music shows all the way to 45 min stage productions!
Number 5: Checkout the Demonstrations and Shops! – Craftsman’s Valley offers guests a unique experience to an almost forgotten ear of time when things were made by hand! You and your family can purchase unique gifts and even watch some of them being made such as woodcarving, blacksmith, and candles!
The park also offers other unique gifts including ICONIC train themed merch in The Village at Temple’s Mercantile or Christmas décor and ornaments year round in Rivertown Christmas Cottage!
Finally: Make Memories that Last! – Our final tip is to slow down and really see the park! Don’t get caught up in the hustle and bustle of planning that next ride or missing the next available show time. You obviously can’t do everything in one day and you shouldn’t stress yourself or others out by attempting it.. Its okay to be spontaneous!
Dollywood has built a reputation of creating memories that are worth repeating and you should strive to do that with your loved ones when you visit the park!
Take time to checkout the unqiue theming, savour a butterfly pretzel, snap some silly photos in one of the numerous photo ops, enjoy a stroll down Show Street or through Jukebox Junction or just enjoy the fresh air and lush mountain backdrop that Dollywood calls home!
If you truly take In all that makes Dollywood special you’re guaranteed to have a blast!
